The Bendigo Post Office was erected in 1883-87 by the Public Works Department. The architect was G W Watson. The contractors were McCulloch and McAlpine. The two storey brick structure has rendered facades and is dominated by a clock tower complete with carillion.
The elaborately decorated facades have arcuated systems of openings on both floors. There are superimposed piers on the ground floor and corinthian pilasters above. The roof is clad in slates.
